Our Team

	Steve Sprowls Certifications: CPCU, RPLU Title: President Bio: Steve founded PLUS in 1990 after many years in the commercial excess & surplus lines business. He graduated from the University of Texas and attended SMU Law School. He began his insurance career as an adjuster, and entered the specialty field with AIG in the mid-70s. Steve is a frequent writer and lecturer on professional liability topics, and has testified in both the United States Congress and Texas Legislature about professional liability. Steve is a past president of the Texas Surplus Lines Association, a past committee chair for the AAMGA, and former Vice-Chairman and founder of the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas. Steve became the first Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) in Texas in 1995. He enjoys traveling, Italian red wines, and claims to be a thoroughly mediocre golfer and tennis player. 	Dan Oberheu Certifications: ASLI Title: Executive Vice President Bio: Dan joined PLUS in 2000, relocating to Texas after starting a professional liability department for a Phoenix wholesaler. He has held underwriting and broking positions in the D&O and professional liability industry since beginning his career with Northland Insurance Company. He graduated with honors from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he starred in both football and baseball. Dan keeps busy away from the office with his wife and four children, including triplets, although he does occasionally sneak in a round of golf. 	Mike Donnelly Certifications: RPLU Title: Vice President Bio: Mike joined PLUS in 2004 as Vice President. He is responsible for the placement and negotiation of all professional liability lines. Mike previously served as a Second Vice President of United States Liability Insurance Group, where he managed the D&O and Employment Practices Division. His responsibilities included the drafting of policy forms and endorsements, determining underwriting and pricing guidelines, and the marketing strategy for the division. He began his insurance career in 1996 with Aon Corporation. Mike is a frequent speaker on professional liability topics. He earned his Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designation in 2000. An honors graduate of LaSalle University with a Finance degree, Mike is a native Philadelphian. 	Kimmi Mauch Title: Financial Manager Bio: Kimmi joined PLUS as a part-timer while attending the University of Texas. She performed nearly every administrative job in the office during her part-time days. When she earned her degree in Finance and Accounting at U.T., she was a natural to take over our financial management. She’s “hooked” on Longhorn football, country music and spending time with family and friends, and is a proud native of Kenedy, Texas. 	Angela Black Title: Broker Bio: Angela joined PLUS in 1998 after relocating from her home state of Oklahoma, where she also worked in the insurance business. Angela spends her spare time with her husband, three children, and her dog, Harley. She also enjoys doting on her first grandchild, Henry, and shopping and hanging out with friends. 	Dennise Valls Certifications: ACSR Title: Broker Bio: Prior to joining PLUS, Dennise was a Senior Underwriting Assistant with a national surplus lines insurance company, and previously spent six years with a E & S broker. A native of 29 Palms, California, Dennise has embraced the Austin lifestyle, including the terrific local music scene. She also enjoys traveling, movies, and spending time with family and friends. 	Amanda Hickey Title: Broker Bio: Amanda is a graduate of Illinois with a degree in French and Business. She enjoys the “wheeling and dealing” of the brokerage side, and has used her marketing knowledge in numerous PLUS presentations. Always a Chicagoan at heart, and an avid Cubs fan, the lure of Austin’s great queso and salsa have drawn her to her adopted Texas home. 	Ashley Hatch Title: Assistant Broker Bio: Another former part-timer, Ashley assisted our Processing Department while a U.T. student. Upon graduation from the University of Texas with a degree in Government, Ashley moved into a Production position as an Assistant Broker. She has a passion for fashion, is quite a sports fan and animal lover, and is constantly outfitted with fabulous shoes and a wonderful smile. 	Lindsey Clements Title: Assistant Broker Bio: Lindsey is a native Austinite, and was pleased to return home to join PLUS upon graduation from Baylor University. A former cheerleading instructor, Lindsey continues to enjoy an active lifestyle, running, cycling, playing tennis, boating on Austin’s lakes, and spending time with family and friends. 	Natalie Schiro Title: Administrative Assistant Bio: Natalie joined PLUS in 2003, successfully juggling her curriculum at Austin Community College with her responsibilities at PLUS. She plans to transfer to either the University of Texas or St. Edward’s University to finish her degree. A native Texan, Natalie has a self-professed “deep and profound love” for banked track roller derby (yes, she plays), enchiladas verdes suizas, liquid eyeliner and early 90s rap music. 	Bitura Geter Title: Administrative Assistant Bio: Bitura joined PLUS in October 2006 after beginning her career in the accounting field. Originally from Dallas, she graduated from the University of Texas in Austin, with a Math degree and a Business Foundations minor. A devoted Texas Longhorns football fan, she’s an avid movie enthusiast and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
